Informtion sheet about solar system

  WALT : write an information report on the solar system

Success criteria: My writing will have all the structural and language features of an
information report.


Structural features : Title, General Statement, Description, Evaluation.


Language features : Nouns, Adjectives, Past tense verbs.  


                                                      Solar system
In the solar system, there are nine planets their moons orbit around the sun.
The name of these planets are mercury, venus , neptune, mars, saturn, pluto,
uranus, jupiter and earth.


                                                      
In the solar the nine planets orbit the sun. some of these planets are gas giants
and some have rings made out of dust and ice. In the solar system there is gravity
to hold up the sun and the 8 planets together so they don't float away from the solar
system.
                                                              
Mercury is the closest to the sun and the smallest in our solar system.Mercury has
no moon and no rings. A day on the surface on mercury will take 178 days. A year
on mercury surface will take 88 days.
                                                                
Venus does not have any moons or rings.Venus is nearly as big as the Earth with
a diameter of 12,104 km Venus is thought to be made up of a central iron core rocky
mantle and silicate crust.
Earth has one moon and quarters of the earth is covered by water and land. Earth is
the place that we all live on. Earth has organic life and  has 20% of oxygen. The earth
is a place that has storms.


Mars is a cold winter at its farthest point from the Sun. Mars is the second smallest in
our solar system. It is the fourth planet from the sun and it is a planet with large
volcanoes and mountains.

The planet Jupiter is the fifth planet out from the Sun and is two and a half times more
massive than all the other planets in the solar system combined.
